Returnsburg Academy Holds Successful PTA Meeting
Returnsburg Academy has successfully held its Parent–Teacher Association (PTA) meeting on Thursday, 29th January, 2026, at the school premises in Marccatey Kope. The meeting brought together the proprietor, teachers, and parents to discuss key academic, welfare, and administrative issues affecting the school.
The meeting commenced at 9:00 a.m. with an opening prayer led by Mr. Kingsford Agbasi, followed by a welcome address from the Chairman, who expressed appreciation to parents and staff for their continued support.
A representative from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (C.H.R.A.J) addressed parents on the growing threat of internet fraud. Parents were educated on how to protect their children from online scammers and encouraged to guide their wards to become responsible and self-reliant individuals.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the introduction of the school’s newly developed website. Management explained that the platform is designed to support learners during school hours, at home, and throughout vacation periods. The website provides learning materials and practice questions for Basic 1–6 learners across subjects such as English Language, French, and Computing, as well as fun games, school policies, and regular updates. Parents were encouraged to visit www.retacgh.org
for more information.
The issue of school excursions was also discussed. Parents agreed that future excursions should take learners to new locations within the Greater Accra Region. Participation will be limited to Basic 1–6 learners, with a suggested fee of GHS 80.00 per learner. Transportation will be provided by a bus from a government institution, and the proposed date for the excursion is 13th March, 2026. Management emphasized that participation is optional and advised parents to begin preparations early.
School policies were reviewed during the meeting. Parents were reminded that 50% of school fees must be paid on resumption, with the remaining balance settled after mid-term break. Feeding fees will now be prepaid before meals are served, as credit feeding will no longer be allowed. Management also cautioned against the wearing of the school’s uniform by learners who have transferred to other schools and reminded parents that full fees remain payable even if a child attends school for a short period within the term.
Several concerns and suggestions were raised during the open forum session. Parents called for clear criteria for awards given to learners, raised concerns about homework organization, and suggested better record-keeping for learners with food allergies. Other issues discussed included the recent change from toiletries to cash contributions, the need for a revised fee policy for parents with multiple children, improved waste disposal systems, and alternative disciplinary measures to corporal punishment.
Parents further suggested training sessions for teachers on effective parent–teacher communication, the introduction of a fruit day celebration, and the organization of weekly structured class tests to better prepare learners for internal and external examinations.
The meeting concluded at 12:30 p.m. with a closing prayer, with management expressing gratitude to parents for their active participation and constructive contributions
